Welcome to the Channel Z Question and Answers section!
Q. My DiskDrive isnt copying my disks properly, what is going on?
A. Check the back of your Drive and see if it has an AntiVirus
Switch, If it has, it will not copy ANY Disks with a Non Standard
Boot Block. Just turn the switch off so that you can copy these types
of disk!If it has'nt got a switch, It may be that your DiskDrive is
faulty, or (as you wer'nt very specific about what was actually
happening) could just be that your Drive thinks that your Disks are
Write Protected, in these cases, just take your Drive to your local
Computer store (one that does repairs) and see what they have to say!
If all else fails try cleaning it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Q. I want to take Picture files from my PC at Work and view them on
my A1200 at Home, What software do I need to do this and How is it
done.
A. First of all you will need a PC Formatted 720k (Double Density)
Disk Just copy the files onto it (from the PC) that you want and
then take them home!
Now Load Workbench and take A file called PC0 from The Disk called
Storage (Its in Devs/Dosdrivers Directory, and copy it to the
Workbench Devs/Dosdrivers Directory. Now reboot the Machine and
after Workbench has reloaded, insert your PC Formatted Disk and click
on its icon, now show all files for this disk, and Bingo there are
your PC Piccies! Now all you need is some software to view them.
PPSHOW 4 (On Disk One in the C dir) Should do the trick!!!!
Q. How do you fit so much onto your Disks?
A. I use a program called PowerPacker that Crunches all my files down
to about Three Quarters of their size! So I can fit a few more files
on!
Q. How can I stop my internal drive from clicking all the time?
A. Try a little PD program called NOCLICK that is available from
ALL Decent PD Libraries, including ourselves!!!!!!!
Q. I recently purchased F15 II by Microprose but it wont work from
my harddrive. It keeps asking for disk one even though I used the
install program that came with the game. After I have installed it
on the Harddrive, it asks me to assign it, what does this mean?
A. To assign a game to your HardDrive is to tell the computer where
on the Harddrive the Game disks are stored.
To this is suprisingly easy! All you have to do is the following.
Edit your User-Startup file in Shell by typing :
ED s/user-startup [RETURN]
and add the following lines
assign f15(game) dh1:games/f15
assign f15(scenario) dh1:games/f15
This will only work if you have f15 on Dh1 in the Games draw and in
its own drawer called F15, if you have it in any other place, make
sure that you put that instead.
e.g
Assign f15(game) dh0:Sims/F15
this would put it on Dh0: in the Sims/F15 drawer!
have fun.............
